Because of its positive effect on so many body functions, CranioSacral Therapy is practiced today by a variety of healthcare professionals. They include osteopathic physicians. allopathic physicians, doctors of chiropractic, doctors or Oriental medicine, naturopathic physicians, nurses, psychiatric specialists, psychologists, dentists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, acupuncturists, massage therapists and other professional body workers.

Stephen Pollock has been Certified by the John Upledger Institute ad a Certified CranioSacral Therapist (CST) in Techniques, and is in the process of becoming Certified at the Diplomate level.

CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed. Using a light touch--generally no more than the weight of a nickel--the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the CranioSacral System to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.

A CranioSacral Therapy session can last from about 15 minutes to more than an hour, and the initial evaluation alone is often enough to correct a problem. The result? A central nervous system free of restrictions, and a body that's able to return to its greatest levels of performance.

The very best time to perform CranioSacral Therapy is just after birth, to check and make sure that the infant's body has compressed and released as it should have. This technique is so gentle and relaxing that children love it and want to come back for more. The releases of restrictions attained in children are so quick and gentle that sessions are generally quite short, leaving time to work on the more stubborn restrictions in the parents. Stephen Pollock has been thoroughly trained to work on both newborns and children of any age. CranioSacral Therapy is so safe that it can be used on extremely elderly patients also.
